Rebecca Lea McCarthy (1966 - Present) was born in Tucson, AZ, and has since lived all over the US. She holds a PhD from Florida Atlantic University's Public Intellectual Program, a Masters of Liberal Studies from Rollins College, and a BFA in Acting from Cornish College of the Arts.  Her first book, Origins of the Magdalene Laundries: An Analytical History, was published by McFarland, 2010. Her writings cover the topics of women's issues, ethics, theatre, cosmopolitanism, and digital recall. In her off hours, McCarthy skates with Toxic 253 Roller Derby League WA state.
